I recently join the Mac World and learning to adapt the new environment.
Can someone give me guidance how to switch from Activesync to something
similar in Mac World.

Thanks,

Scott

First, congrats on joining the Mac World. Make Apple.com's support
forums a place of regular visit in case you have questions regarding
your Mac.

In terms of sync, I'm assuming you want to sync Winmobile. You'll need
a third party app for that and I've used Missing Sync for years with
my Palm, BlackBerry and iPhone. Its excellent. The have a product for
Winmobile and it just uses Apples universal sync architecture sync
services to provide sync. Anything will automatically sync to iCal and
Addressbook and for that matter mobileme if you have that and turn on
what you want to sync.

To sync to Entourage you have to turn on sync in Ent prefs. My
suggestion as there are problems with sync services and third party
apps is to run only one module at a time in Ent such as Calendar and
Tasks. This is basically 100% reliable. Turning on more than one
module and you'll get very bizarre sync results including dups, data
loss and potentially a corrupted DB. Make sure you have backups
especially if you use Ent sync.

Have fun with you Mac.

Thanks for your recommendation of Missing Sync. I have installed it on my
iMac and working correctly using USB connection.

For the connection, I note that the successful rate of USB connection is not
100%, probably 50%. I have to plug and unplug a couple of times before
sync.

For Bluetooth connection, I cannot figure it out to work with this
connection. My phone can connect to iMac but Missing Sync does not show the
connection. Do you have any experience with this connection to be shared?

Bluetooth works perfectly fine with Missing Sync products. You just
haven't set it up right. There's a wizard in the Missing Sync product
that steps you this. However, if you do have trouble with this jump to
the Markspace forums Winmobile and the answer or help will be there.
If you are still uncertain you can write Markspace support but the
forum will have the answer.

In terms of USB, yes, the connection can be a bit flaky and can be
lost. This has to do with the Missing sync monitor and you can see
this in Activity Monitor. Sometimes by quitting this and then re-
opening Missing Sync it will restart the monitor and your syncs with
USB will work. Bluetooth always works but you find it real slow
compared to a USB sync. Again, jump to the Markspace forums for
detailed help on this. Its all there.
