I too have just installed Office 2004, and hot sync to my Treo 270 (with Palm
OS) doesn't work. Tried reinstalling the Entourage conduit, and disabling
and reenabling the other conduits, but to no avail.

It physically connects and seems to be synchronising, but no data is
transferred.

Sorry, don't have an answer yet.

The old Entourage conduit will not work with 2004. You must install the new
conduit provided on the CD.

I have gone through all possibilities. I totally uninstalled Office for Mac x,
and the old conduit. Then I installed Office 2004, complete with new
conduit for Entourage. It installs OK, but when I go to conduit manager, it is
there, but I can't access the settings. The data gets to the Palm Desktop OK,
but nothing gets through the Entourage conduit.

So I'm back to the old version of Office which runs fine.

None of that was necessary here - I upgraded from v.X to 2004, couldn't
figure out why syncing didn't, installed the new conduit, and now everything
works fine.

You've thrown in the towel a bit early :)

Did you look at the MVPS Entourage site? It might be able to suggest
something. I think there's a single file that you can remove which contains
your sync state, so you could remove that too. Previous posts in this group
have mentioned the exact filename, so you could google for it.

I have finally solved my problem.

It was as follows: Upgraded from Office x to Office 2004, and also installed
the Office 2004 version of the Handheld Sync Installer. I tried all sorts of
things to make it work: the problem was that the Entourage conduit in the
Palm Desktop did nothing when I double-clicked it - and no data was being
transferred when syncing. I tried installing Office 2004 over the top of
Office x, and also uninstalling Office x then installing Office 2004. To no
avail.

The solution was to remove the Palm Desktop preference file:user/library/
preferences/palm desktop info. Now it syncs perfectly, and there is a brand
new preferences file.

Eureka!

Thanks for your encouragement.

Thank you, thank you for this post. I followed your instructions and
I finally got my Palm synched. I am so excited after 3 weeks of
rebuilding since a hard drive crash.

This maybe a dumb question, but I've looked all over my CD for the
cinduit, but can't find it. What am I missing?

Microsoft's site doesn't have the download either.

You are not the first one asking.

Once you have installed Office, look in the Additional Tools folder in your
Microsoft Office 2004 folder on your hard drive. It should be there.
