I have purchased a Treo 500 V and want to sync my entourage diary, contacts tasks and notes. Will the 08 version of Office for Mac do this

Office 2008 syncs to SyncServices and SyncServices only,
You'll need to find an application that sync SyncServices data to the
device you have (I suspect Markspace has one),

Yes, The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile should do what you need. I haven't
used it, but I was previously a satisfied user of their Palm version, and
their current iPhone version is also pretty good (subject to the iPhone's
limitations, unfortunately ).
