Synching email on 2 different computers with 1 internet connection?

I would like to find a way to synchronize all of my email on 2
computers. I am currently downloading around 10 pop-3 accounts into
different folders with rules for placing these emails into their
respective folders. Only 1 of the computers has an internet connection.

I am thinking that I would like to take a copy of my home entourage
folder (no internet as of last week) that has all of these emails and
pop-3 info and bring it to work, import it into my work computer and
download email while at work, copy it back to a disk and reimport it
back at home.

Can anyone think of any issues with this?

Thanks.

You might try a search of this newsgroup. I seem to remember someone who
devised an Applescript that did all that syncing for you.

Here's what I do.

Right (ctrl) click the Database file (inside the main identity folder)
and copy it.
Paste that copy onto the desktop
Move it onto the Mac where I want it
Start Entourage and make sure that Office notifications is turned off
(in the Entourage menu)
Quit Entourage
Navigate to the main identy folder of the current Mac and rename the
database file 'old database1'
Drop the database file that's been waiting on the desktop into this
folder.
Start Entourage and cancel when it asks me to turn on Office
notifications.

Do the reverse to move everything onto the Mac I'll next be working on.

The key point here is the turning off of Office notifications. If you
don't do this, even though Entourage isn't running, it won't work (I
think this is becuase he Deamon is running and prevents it somehow).

This all seems longwinded but it takes me about 30 seconds since I move
the database file from one Mac to the other wirelessly - but if you put
the file on a CD it'll work just as well. It also has the advantage of
there always being back-ups at both ends in case I make a mistake. I've
tried various syncing apps and scripts and found none (clever as they
are) as straightfoward and solid as this homespun method. If anybody
can see any pitfalls in this approach, please feel free to point them
out.

Cheers

That makes sense to just copy the database file, since I can have all of
the rules and pop-3 info already established on both computers.

Do you know what the database file is called? Does this one file contain
all of the emails and folders?\

Thanks.

Yep, it's called 'database' and you'll find it inside the main identity
folder:

~/documents/microsoft user data/office 2004 identities/main
identity/database

and it contains everything you are likely to need.
