Synching Notes to dotMac and iPod

With the 11.2.3 update you can synchronise Entourage Notes with dotMac.

I presumed from there I could get them to synchronise to an iPod.

I don't see how though.

Anyone doing this?

As I puzzle it I am thinking this might be an Apple thing rather than an
Entourage thing.

There's no Entourage on your iPod, and no Apple app which does Notes or an
equivalent. The Entourage Notes will only display in Entourage. SyncServices
has a schema for them (created by Entourage) and .Mac will faithfully store
them and pass them on to SyncServices on your other computer, from where
Entourage on that computer syncs and displays them. If some other app ever
accesses SyncService's "Entourage Note" schema, you'd be able to get them
there too. (I don't suppose you'd need anything from Microsoft to do that -
SyncServices schemas must be exposed.) If some other Apple app (TextEdit,
maybe?) ever is made to convert these notes to text documents and is also
brought into iPods by Apple, then you might get them. Perhaps you could
send a request to Missing Sync, if you have it, to see if they could get
their conduits to sync to something functioning on an iPod. I suspect they
could do it for Palms (which can upload apps such Missing Sync's MemoPad)
but not for iPods. And that's presuming such an app could access Entourage
Notes in the first place.

So - No.

So Paul, the new Sync services is out for this but it'll sync my Entourage
Notes on my iBook with my Entourage Notes on my iMac. And for the iPod I
need to export the Entourage Notes out to text files somehow and drag them
into the iPod Notes app. Ok, I understand, thanks for explaining.

iPDA will sync your Entourage notes to your iPod. The URL is

Is there anyway to sync Entourage Notes with my Palm? I've moved to
SynServices and all other info is synced to my T3 with TMS. But TMS
won't sync Notes to Palm Memos. Mark/Space support has told me to
switch back to the old Entourage conduit if I want my Notes synced!

And that's correct. It works fine with the Entourage Conduit (and.
optionally Missing Sync 4 or 5). I have no idea what a T3 is, but if it's a
Palm it will also sync everything else using the old Entourage conduit, and
works very well too. Since using SyncServices means all calendar events end
up in the "Entourage" calendar on iCal and thus with an "Entourage" category
on the Palm, that's not one iota better than the Entourage Conduit which
doesn't sync categories of calendar events - exactly the same. So just about
the only benefit you're getting is having both Home and Word postal
addresses. Is that worth losing your Notes sync for?

MissingSync does not understand Entourage's Notes schema. Entourage Notes do
sync (invisibly) to .Mac iDisk accounts so they can sync to Entourage on
another computer. That's all. maybe MissingSync could ask Microsoft to
provide the APIs for their Notes Sync, if they're interested.
