Synchronize Windows Mobile phone with Outlook 2007 Vista?

Perhaps because I was trying to get my Windows Mobile phone to sync with
Outlook 2007 which had no reference to Active Sync or (as I have now
discovered) Windows Mobile Device Center which can do the job.
