Synchronizing in Entourage

I am thinking about going back to using Entourage on my G5 however there is
a problem that is driving me crazy. Every time I open an email it goes
through two different processes. The first is a box with the message "Ken's
Mac email: synchronizing offline actions" with a completion bar. That box
closes and then another opens up with the message "Ken's Mac
email/INBOX:Ken's Mac email:synchronizing o" with a progress bar. Under the
progress bar it says "Purging l.... 1 of 1"
I have tried deleting preferences and reinstalling Entourage with no change.
Oddly enough I do not experience this on my Pismo. All of the setting
appear to be the same.
Does anyone have some suggestions?

Wow, I accidentally deleted my mail account and had to re-add it (was
playing with (POP). It works fine now after months of trying to figure this
out.
