Syncing Entourage 2004 with Exchange 2003

I have Exchange 2003 running with OWA working. According the Entourage
wizard and every other resource that I can find, they all say to use the OWA
site as the name of Exchange Server. I did that, and it seems to be at
least authinticating. But when I go to send a message or go to the Address
Book, I get a error that says "Unknown error (-50) occurred". I googled
this error, and did not find any helpful info. It seems like this error is
coming from LDAP Server, but that is only a guess. So if it is, then what
should I be using for LDAP server address.

All help is greatly appreciated!!! I have been struggling with this for 2
months now, and am ready to throw Entourage away if I cannot get synced with
my Exchange Server.

You don;t have to use the wizzard. You can setup the account manually.
For the Exchange server, do the following:
- Connect to OWA in a web browser
- copy the address and use it in Entourage as the Exchange address (with
the http:// and everything).

LDAP is a different beast. If Auto detect didn't work, you need to get
the settings from your network administrator.

Thank you for the info. OK, it seems that I am connected now, beside the
account name it no longer says "Not Connected". But now the problem is
there are no messages or any of my additional folders showing up in the
Inbox. There is just the one welcome message from the Entourage
application. Also, when I click on Public Folders, none of my public
folders are appearing either. There are no error messages at all.
Thank you again for any insight you can give me.

Hi there,

Hi SImon,
Thank you again for your comments. I really appreciate your persistance!!
I am able to see my mail through OWA. To do this, I go to
https://server/exchange, which after I hit the enter key gets changed to
https://server/exchweb/bin/auth/owalogon.asp?url=https://server/exchange&rea
son=0 . . I can then enter my username and password there, and login to see
all my email and folders, calendars, etc.

Ouch ouch ouch..... Redirection... that can't be good :-(
I've seen serious problems with servers using non-standard
authentication and refdirection.
The progress window does not show any progress. The weird thing is that
beside the name of my account, it does not say (Not Connected) anymore.
Before it did when I had the wrong address in server fields.

Well it must fail during the redirection process (it is connected, but
fails to go any further).

Try to copy the address you end up in after the redirection and use it
as the Exchange server address in Entourage. To be honest, I have little
hope, but it doesn't hurt to test this :-\

Actually I have tried both https://server/exchange and the redirected
address, and neither work. When I use the redirected site, it still does
not say that it is NOT CONNECTED. So that is kinda good. So its like its
talking with the server, but just getting the email in. Also something to
note, is that when I first start up Entourage, it says NOT CONNECTED, then I
get a message saying that the certificate is not good or something. (Yes I
have imported my SBS cert into the proper keychain folder in my MAC, I
followed the instructions from some MS doc.) Then after I say that I want
to connect anyways, the NOT CONNECTED goes away. But no email ever shows
up.

Ideas to investigate anyone???

Just to make sure you use the Latest version of Entourage (11.2.6)

In some of the older version Public Folders don't work..

And in the setup of the Exchange server, use the following format:
https://www.????.com/exchange

And this address for public folder:
https://www.????.com/public

And the servername address for LDAP:
SERVER

This is how I got it to work...
