Syncing with LDAP directory

I use Entourage 2004 and up until a few days ago, I have had zero problems
accessing the Exchange mail server but now I am unable to connect to the
LDAP server. I have checked with our network people and they say nothing has
really changed. Other people in our little MAC group are sill able to
connect and get the Exchange directory just fine. I have checked all of my
settings several times and made sure my settings matched those of other
people whose name directory is working.

Exchange sync is entirely done through WebDAV in Entourage 2004. It
means that if you get e-mails to sync, it shouldn't be a problem to sync
address book, calendar...
The GAL on the other hand is queried through LDAP as you saw and that's
completely independent of the rest of your Exchange settings. Actually
you could set it up by itself as a directory service even without using
an Exchange account at all.
There must be something fishy with your LDAP setting (special port??
AUthentication???) that prevents you from connecting. If other users
manage to connect you could try looking at their settings and copy them
for your account.

Here's what I found for Mac users on and Exchange network.

It seems there is a unique ID of some sort that is set up when you create a
new account in Entourage and try to log in to the Exchange server for the
first time, or more accurately, when you let the automatic account setup
contact the Exchange server for you.

Somehow my ID got corrupt or deleted and creating a new account set a new
unique ID for me and now all is well.

In my case sending and receiving of email was not affected, only the
resolving of names being served from our LDAP server.
