Syncing with OS X, Entourage

Mark

I have updated my computer to system 10.3.5, installed Palm's Desktop
4.2.1, use Entourage with my PDA (Tung. T3) and I am unable to sync
with my Tung. T3 and Entourage. It will sync with Palm's Desktop so
obviously there's a problem with linking with Entourage. Anyone know
the solution to this issue?

Did you install the Handheld Synchronization software for Office? Details
on where it is located can be found here:

Installing it will disable the Palm Desktop conduits for To Do List, Date
Book, Address Book, and Memo Pad.

If you're running Entourage 2004 and still have trouble, check out the
"Synchronization between Entourage 2004 and Palm device fails" tip on the
same page.

I also had the conduit settings not appearing when I double-clicked.

In the end, I did two things to resolve it:

* Two versions of the Entourage Database Daemon were listed in my
Login Items (the v.X and 2004). I deleted them both from Login Items
and re-added just the version from the Office 2004 install (found in
the Office sub-folder). (Sloppy install from the CD, Microsoft).

* I deleted the old Office v.X installation (not the MUD identities in
Documents, just the applications). However, I should mention that it
was at this point I discovered the old Database Daemon was still
running as it prevented deletion of the folder. So I imagine if I had
just done the daemon thing I mentioned above, this would probably have
resolved the conduit problems without deleting the old Office apps.

If anyone tries these solutions and finds it is necessary to delete
the old apps as well, can you post an update here so everyone else
knows.

(Note I also uninstalled the conduit and its settings file (found in
your Palm identities folder), but again this may be unnecessary if you
are suffering from the dual-daemon problem).

Hope this helps,
Surelys

The daemon is added to the Startup Items automatically unless you have
Notifications turned off.

If you are switching back and forth between Entourage X and 2004 this can
create the multiple daemons.

Everything you wanted to know about the daemon (including how to quit) can
