There's no work around. A text box is in Word's so-called "Drawing Layer".
And a Table of Figures (or Table of Contents) can't recognize text in the
Drawing Layer. To get your captions into the Table of Figures, you'll have
to copy them from the text boxes, paste them as ordinary text, and then
delete the text boxes.
