Tablet PC speech problem

I have a Tablet PC and am unable to get the speech recognition to run
properly. I am running XP Professional as my OS and believe that I have
downloaded all the SP's possible. I can't use any of the "selection" or
"correction" commands on my Tablet, however, these features work fine on my
regular PC running the same OS and SP's. I have gone to great lengths to
make sure both the Tablet and Desktop are the same in terms of OS and SP's.
Can anyone answer why the Tablet is not working properly? Is there an extra
download for the Tablet? Or a setting that needs to be changed?

I am basically just using Microsoft Word to dictate into.
