Take me to Word's leader

(Using Word 2002 in Office XP Pro)

This ought to be a very simple task but I can't figure out
how to do it. How do you create leaders in words--you know
dots, hyphens, or some other repeated character used to lead
the eye horizontally as in indexes, tables of contents,
charts, etc?

Typing "leader" in Word's Help fetches up nothing useful so
perhaps Word calls leaders something else. Anyone have any
ideas?

"Change a callout leader" perhaps? Or Tab Leader in "Insert, Reference,
Index and tables" ?

Dot leaders are created using Tabs. However you will need to use
Format/Tabs in order to access the leader styles.
