Task C

Good Morning Everyone,

I wanted to set up a equation to look at the Task Complete Field and return
whether it was under 31% done or not. I thought it may have been this simple:

IIf([% Work Complete]<=0.31,"LESS","MORE")

Apparently it's a little more complicated than I thought since everything
but 100% complete tasks return the "MORE" value. What am I missing out on
when trying to throw this together?

Cheers,
Rich

Rich,
If you're saying good morning, you must be "down under". You are way
ahead of us . . . :)

Even though you might think Project stores the % Work Complete field as
a decimal, it doesn't - it stores it as the decimal value x 100. So, all
you need to do to make your formula work is to use the following:

IIf([% Work Complete] <= 31, "LESS", "MORE")

Hope this helps.

Hello John,

It was morning when I originally posted the question. I guess it took a
little bit of time to catch up. :-D I'm in the US in the Central Time Zone.

If this is the case, then why does all of my custom fields state "LESS" all
the way up to 99% and only 100% generates a "MORE"? Wouldn't anything above
10% generate a "MORE" if I threw in the decimal where I did?

Honestly, I don't have it right in front of it. It's (*gasp*) at the Office
and I'm at home. I'll be back there bright-n-early in the morning to let you
know if it works. It seems to me that I tried it both ways (with and without
the decimal) and I ended up with the same result.

I'm just trying to think what else it may possibly be. I used a custom Text
Field for that equation. Is that okay to use? I also took out all of the
extra spaces assuming that would not affect the situation.

Let me know if there is anything else that doesn't make much sense or else
I'll try the equation in a new Project if the current one doesn't perform as
stated.

Cheers, Rich

Hi,

I am not sure you have any resources to the task, so Work is zero.
Either ssign resoruces to the tasjk to see % Work Complete or use % Complete
which is based on duration.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I coulnd't find the "% Complete"
field when I was digging through the dropdown menus with the fields in it.
It's been a great help!

Rich,
You're welcome and thanks for the feedback. When I tested the formula
before I responded, I actually used the % Complete field.

By the way, I think there was a problem with the newsgroup server. I
didn't log on until evening and was surprised to see a ton of posts with
no response so even though you are in the USA and posted in the morning,
it looked like your post was entered at 6:47 in the evening - hence my
assumption about you being an "Aussie" - it would have been morning
(next day) down under.
