Task Delagation

We have run into a number of porblems since the
implementation of EPM. Recently we have gotten EPM up and
running and we are trying out the functionality. We have
attempted to delegate task(s), but it says that they have
not been approved by the Manager. Who is the manager? We
were using teh administrator account. It does not seem
that you can get any more manager than that. Also, how do
we send tasks to others? We are severely frustrated. Our
ignorance in this area is quite evident and paramount. We
would appreciated any help that can be given.

If you're not in a position to purchase training (highly recommended) you
can start with the training materials that Microsoft provides at:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/tr...nol/project/project2002/training/prj02trn.asp

If you've got $54.50 to invest, you can also purchase a copy of my book at
the link below.

Dear Gary,

We currently have two books Step by Step Microsoft Project
2002 from Microsoft Press by Carl Chatfield and Timothy
Johnson, and we also have Project Server 2002 by Qimao
Zhang. We were just wondering if your book will be of any
additional help. We were thrust into this project at the
beginning of July and we have made little head way. I do
not believe we have the means of outsourcing help besides
the free kind. We have tried to read and absorb as much
information as possible on the subject, but we are still
lacking. Perhaps we are just dense or stupid, but that is
neither hither nor thither. I appreciate this news group
and all things thereunto appertaining it has been a great
help in so far. However, we are still encountering several
problems repeatedly, i.e., e-mail notification, task
delegation & assignment, and windows authentication. Truth
be told, we are a little tired of slamming repeatedly into
the brick wall which is Project Server 2002.

Thank you,

Max Cosby

Step by Step doesn't really offer very much coverage of Project Server,
after all, it's an excellent book on Project. In my opinion (shared by many)
Zhang's book is a disgrace. Ninety five percent of the content in that book
is plagiarized screen shots of documents available for download from
Microsoft. For instance, compare the pages on the database to svrdb.htm on
your installation CD.

If you want a book written in English that can help you deploy Project
Server, my book is the only choice.

Gary:

I agree with you on you opinion on Step by Step. As far
as Zhang's book is concerned, fall is right around the
corner and I'm going to need something to start my
fireplace with. I've seen your responses through many of
the questions posted here in the newsgroup and you do seem
extremely knowledgeable on this subject. I will take your
word and buy your book. Can I get an autographed copy? =)
