Tasks created from e-mails are not added to the task/to-do list

Hi,

If I create a task from a mail message, it's simply not added to the task/to-do (forget exactly which it should go to) list.

I used to be able to do so, but not anymore. I recently had to remove and recreate my exchange account, that is after I tried rebuilding the database, because I kept getting an "error end of line", well, error.

I also noticed that a lot of my to-do items are gone, not all, but most. Ideas anyone?

You can actually take a message and make either a Task or a To Do. How
are you creating the Tasks?

You can select a message and select Script menu --> Create Task from
Message to create a Task.

You can "flag" a message as a To Do using the "flag" icon or the To Do
menu button.

Unfortunately, if you had to recreate your Exchange account then Tasks
will not follow. They do not get synchronized with the Exchange Server
when using Entourage. To Do items will, I believe, get synchronized
because they are just message items with a "status" applied.

Also, while viewing your Tasks/To Do lists, make sure you haven't
selected View --> Incomplete or View --> Complete. This would filter
your items so they don't all appear.

Hope this helps!

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the reply. Point taken regarding my account recreation, quite logical although I, among many others, hope to see task sync added soon.

I'm quite familiar with creating the tasks/to-do, and have always done it either by "flagging" the individual message and it should normally add to the task list, or by directly going to the task list and creating a new task.

I've also tried using the script menu and the task is added without any problems.

My view settings are also marked as "All Tasks", so that shouldn't be a problem either.

I guess the main question is still, why all of a sudden aren't my "flagged" messages added to the list? Thanks again for the reply though.

I think you're still confusing Tasks and To Do items.

Only To Do items are created by flagging. Not Tasks.

If you look at the Tasks view you'll see separate "Tasks" and "To Do
List" items in the folder list on the left. If you're creating To Do
items then they should appear when you select the "To Do List".

Are they appearing there at all? Again, check the View menu and be sure
you're looking at "All To Do Items".

Hope this helps!

Hi again.

Just to clarify things a bit, I'm using the words "Task" and "To Do" synonymously in this case. I do understand that they're different.

When I flag a message, they're not added to the To Do items anymore, and yes the view settings are indeed set to "All To Do Items".

I'm suspecting that it could be a rare bug particular to my system, probably when I had to meddle around with the "End of line" error. Though I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

In any case, I'll try a reinstall and see if that'll help. Thanks again though!

Just an update.

I tried reinstalling the entire suite and the problem persists. Really strange.

So, does anyone else have this problem, and if so, have you found a solution?
