Tasks in Entourage 2008 lose recurring status after sync with iCal

Upon syncing Entourage 2008 with iCal (OS X 10.5.1), all of my recurring tasks are changed to 'Once Only.' I can see it happening while the sync is taking place...the circular double arrows disappear one by one.

I know iCal does not support recurring tasks, but why should this have an effect on my tasks in Entourage?

Anyone else having this problem? Is there a fix?

Thanks...

Lew

I'm pretty sure it's because you're syncing through .mac which .mac
was made specifically to work with ical, addressbook, etc... so when
entourage (a much more complicated software) syncs with .mac you're
losing some stuff.

I don't use .Mac at all.

The more I think about this, the more I think it might be an Apple problem.

When data is synced from Entourage to iCal the tasks that are recurring have that information stripped away because iCal doesn't support recurring tasks. When iCal syncs again, almost immediately, with Entourage, the iCal task data overwrites the tasks in entourage because it's more recent. Since the new data has no recurring information, that's what I end up with in Entourage...the same tasks, but with their recurring information reset.

I could be way off, but it makes sense. I think Apple should be looking at SyncServer to rectify this problem.

I'm having the same problem with recurring tasks. Does anyone have an answer or solution to this problem?

I just talked to a microsoft support agent, and they confirmed that this is a known issue. They recommended that I use recurring events instead.

I use recurring tasks in Entourage, extensively. When syncing 2004 to Apple Sync services, some of the tasks would get corrupted and become daily. However, 2008 tasks get stripped of the recurring data by Apple and then overwrite the Entourage tasks, rendering them useless.

While I believe this to be a bug and omission on Apple's part, i am disappointed that MBU has overlooked this flaw when releasing 2008.

As such, I cannot use 2008 nor recommend it to anyone who syncs data.
