Telephone number formatting in Outlook 2003

Since I am in an area where 10-digit calling is the norm, I want my telephone
numbers in Outlook to appear at 404.679.5699, not (404) 679.5699. The
parenthesis is incorrect as the area code is a necessity, not something
parenthetical.

I think I have answered my own question. I did a new search using slightly
different terms and found where lots of people had made posts inquiring about
the same issue. I hope Microsoft engineers have been made aware of this
situation and that many people wish to mask the format of their telephone
numbers.

This behavior would be controlled by your dialing rules, not the format of
the phone number in Outlook.

If the service Telephony is not turned on, the default formatting is none.
You must have Telephony started in order to create dialing rules, which can
be a problem if you do not have a modem installed on the computer.
