I would like to be able to create a background template that I can use
whenever I send emails. the typing would just go over the top ie a bit
like a word template. Can this be done

Do it as part of a signature. In Tools/Signatures/New, click the HTML button
("abab" at the far left of the window's toolbar) and add a real signature as
you like. Then go to Message menu/Insert/Background Picture, and select your
picture. Name the sig, save and close. In Tools/Accounts/your mail
account/Edit/Options, set this sig to be your Default Signature. In
Entourage/Mail & News/Preferences/Compose, set your default Mail Format to
be HTML, and in /Reply & Forward set your Reply Format to be HTML.

Now it will come up every time you start a new message or reply to a
message. (Lots of people will be annoyed to get this sort of HTML message,
but that's your business. ;-)
