Text in messages displays as random characters

Lately I've been getting more messages where they arrive looking like
someone pounded on the keyboard randomly. Not all of them, and when I hit
reply I can read the text the way it was supposed to appear. One common
thread is it people sending me mail from Lotus Notes users (from my work
colleagues). Is there a setting that got changed without my knowing it? Is
this happening to anyone else?

Try this..... go to the format menu and under character set select "Western
European (Windows)". Do they display correctly now?

Delete the "com.microsoft.browserfont.cache" file in ~/Library/Caches.

"~" represents your home folder, which is usually located in /Users/<Your
User>/ and is accessible by going to Go > Home in the Finder.

Just an FYI that you can get a Notes client for Mac. Works very well.
