Text Problem after Pack and Go to CD

L

Lesa H.

I have a client with a PowerPoint presentation that they created and then
used Pack and Go and sent the resulting output to CD from within the
program. When they run the presentation from a laptop with just the
PowerPoint viewer some of the text gets jumbled. It looks like all the
letters from one particular line get overlaid on top of each other. We
checked the option to include all fonts in the presentation when packing it
for CD. The strange thing is that it doesn't always happen with the same
text within the presentation. One time you run it the problem appears on
page 3 (not all the text on page 3 either), then next time it may be on
pages 4 and 7.

Anyone have an idea what might be causing the problem?

Thanks,

Lesa

I've seen two different things resolve this.

1. Reapply the slide design (template).

2. Change Hardware Acceleration.

I think TAJ may have also mentioned updating video drivers in other similar
threads. Can't remember for sure, sorry. But it probably wouldn't hurt to
try.

For the suggestion number one, does the user do this on the system where the
file was created?

I'll look at the hardware acceleration and see if that resolves the issue.

Thanks!

That's a good question. I'm not sure that it matters.

When I've had it happen, it's been on a system on our network, so we
reapplied it on the affected machine.

The laptop in question is not on the network, but I'll give it a try on that
unit anyway.

Thanks again!

Another idea is to summon Format | Replace Fonts..... and change the font
for the entire presentation to a locally installed font.

This problem often shows up with embedded fonts - can you install the
required font locally?

I have had this sort of problem with the Gill Sans family - which font is
giving you problems?

I tried the hardware acceleration and that didn't do the trick (I turned it
off completely). I couldn't reapply the template because I was looking at it
in the PP Viewer.

The user that created the presentation said that the fonts were installed
locally, but I'll have to check that myself. It's strange that it doesn't
always happen on the same text. I'm not sure what fonts are included in the
presentation, but it seems that they were pretty standard.

I also ran the presentation on another system (not a laptop) and it ran fine
with the PP Viewer, so it seems to be an issue with this particular system
unfortunately, it's the one they have to use with the presentation.

Back to the drawing board. ARRGGHH!

Any other ideas,

Lesa
