Textbox with gradiant bar on the side

I need to duplicated a publication originally made in Adobe Indesign. It is
a 2 column document and each column (textbox) also has a gradiant image the
length of each "section" within the textbox column to indicate when there is
a "break" in the text. If an article continues on to another page, the
gradiant also continues on instead of starting over with the solid color.
The effect is kind of like the Pull Quote "floating oval" in pub 2007, if
the bar on the right was a gradiant and you could use the pull quote as a
text box and pour text into it.

Thanks!

Can you not create a rectangle in Publisher, give it a gradient and position it
next to the text box? Copy the rectangle and paste next to the continued text
box. Is this what you are asking?

Thanks Mary..
Well, yes, kind of...
It is going to end up being about 50 pages long and some text boxes
will flow to other columns and/or next page. The main problem is
having the gradiant autoflow, in that it does not start over with the
darkest color in the next textbox or page.

Publisher cannot carry an image attached to a text box to another text box. The
best you can do is to link text boxes so your text flows.

You can adjust the gradient somewhat in Publisher by using two colors. I know
nothing about Adobe Indesign, but in Corel you can start the gradient color
anywhere. Copy from Indesign, paste special to Publisher. The Office clipboard
will collect 24 objects.

I can attach the image to the textbox? So when the textbox is resized,
the image resizes along with it?
The final output is a hi-rez pdf document placed on a website.
