The £ sign changes to a # in sent e-mails

In Office 2003, outlook, my sent e-mails which contain the '£' sign. The £
sign is changed to the # sign. How do I correct this problem

My guess is that you're using a font that contains the British pound. Your
recipients don't have that font. The PC is substituting one that had the
American pound in the same position.
