The count function is not working

S

Forgive me if I've posted this twice. My connection cut off in the middle of
my earlier posting. As an attempt to learn how create graphs, I deliberately
created a set of data in which I know for a fact that the value "4" was
entered 5 times in cells A1-A20. However, when I typed in "=COUNT (A1:A20,
4), the number 6 was returned to me. I know this is an error, so what am I
doing wrong and how can I fix this problem.

Thanks.

Try

=COUNTIF(A1:A20,4)

what yout formula does is counting all the numeric values
in A1:A20 plus one (the 4 after the comma)

Hi,

Use the counif function instead. Count is not a conditional function
