The Find dialog box for Contacts or the Address Book could be greatly
enhanced or made more user friendly by enabling drop down boxes to aid in a
search. For example, if I am searching by department it would help to be able
to choose a department rather than have to type it. Often times a department
is listed in the General Address List differently than employees refer to it,
so typing it in doesn't help. But, if one saw it listed he or she would
recognize it. Further, the search could be refined if one selected an item
from a field list and all of the other field lists narrowed themselves down
based on the selection.
Finally, other fields like Extension, Phone etc. that are standard in
Outlook or even custom fields should be available in the Find Dialog box.
Often times I will get a voice mail and the person leaves an extension,
although I do not know who the person is. If I could enter the extension in
the Find box I could see the person's listed information and be better
informed when returing the call.
