The "HELP" window won't close

When I open a "Help" window in any of the Office 2004 programs (Word,
Excel, Publisher, etc.), I am not able to close the Help window -
except by quitting the program. Any thoughts?

This is a new one so there is no specific answer for your problem that I am
aware of that would fix it. I would restart my computer and run Repair
Permissions.

To use Repair Permissions:
1. Open Disk Utility in your Applications/Utility folder.
2. Click on the First Aid tab and select Repair Permissions
3. Click on the icon for your boot volume.
4. Click the repair permissions button.

Don't run from CD. Updates contain a newer versions of the application's
permissions.

If you still have problem, create a new User in System Preferences and test
there. If it goes away then you know it's a problem in your User's folder,
if it still happens, then it's system wide. Apply the latest Apple combo
updater. Let me know if you continue to have problems.

Do you mean that it doesn't close when you press "Cmd-W" or that
you don't know what to do because there are no little
red/yellow/green circles on the upper left?

Is there some situation where the normal close widget isn't visible? I
always see it in my copy of Office 2004:

Oddly enough, I NEVER see it on the Help window. Every other
window - but it just isn't there on the Help window.

Cmd W works fine - so it never occurred to me that it SHOULD be
there. Microsoft has violated the Human Interface Guidelines in so
many other places, I never gave it a 2nd thought/

Wow - what does the window look like then? Can you take a screen shot
of it and upload it to http://imageshack.us and post the link here so I
can see it?

Ever have one of those, "Doh!" moments?

I have 2 screens - one to work on and one for tools. Office Help
opens on the tools screen, filling it completely. Whilst
endevouring to take the screen shot, I discovered that I'd (long
ago) set it to have as much screen real estate as possible. The
buttons et al were simple off the screen <blush>
