The messaging interface returned an unknown error...

Whenever I try to send a document from Word or Excel by selecting
File-Send-Email, the message creates and everything looks fine. The problem
comes when I click on Send, I get "The messaging interface returned an
unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook."

I am running XP/SP2 and Outlook 2007 with all of the available updates.
This is happening on several machines.
