the option to turn off auto formatting, it really pisses me off!

Please please please can you give the option of turning off auto formatting
in word, outlook etc - I am quite capable of formatting my own work, and have
to spend ages putting right things the programme does it's self. For
instance, when you paste something in to an email, and the line spacing
doubles - its bloody annoying!

No offence like, but that's not very helpful. If I knew how to do that then I
wouldn't be writing this would I? I have noticed other people saying use
paste special, but I've never seen that in any thing other than excel?

Considering you initiated the thread by throwing a tantrum. Perhaps a
little consideration is due the volunteers that answer these questions?
In answer to your further query.

In Office applications "Paste Special" is found on the "Edit" pull down
right below "Paste".

In Word 2003: Menu option "Tools - Autocorrect options" or something
like that (I have the Norwegian version of Word, so I'm not sure of the
exact wording). Uncheck what you don't want. (I've unchecked just about
everything under all tabs. Your post suggests you have similar preferences.)

I haven't used Outlook for some years, but the options should be in a
similar spot. When I used it (was forced to at work) it was on a
terminal server connection, and the personal profile was reset to
defaults at every login. Seems that the default settings in MS Office is
for those who can't type. I just used notepad to edit my messages. Nice
piece of software...
