Is there any way to thread by conversation instead of subject? When someone
makes a change to a subject line in a newsgroup discussion it begins a new
thread and makes it difficult to follow conversations.

I couldn't agree more... The thread ID is usually in the mail headers.
Several other apps use them already (that's one of the reason why I use
MacSoup for mailing lists and nntp).I really hope they'll implement that
in a future release.
