three page numbers missing from 500-page document

In a 500-page document, three page numbers are missing. I
have checked the footers and there the correct page number
appears on the page before and the page after but the
missing page number's footer is blank. Any ideas what
could be interfering with the page numbers on three random
pages?

The blank footer is either in a separate section (not Same as Previous) or
is the First Page Footer in a section formatted as "Different first page."
In either case, you just need to add the page number to the footer on those
pages.
