Tilde file created on Desktop-spyware or glitch?

I'm using OE6, all updates current. Today, it began
putting a tilde (~) file on the Desktop, on completion of
Reply or Add Contact commands. I've read the file with
Wordpad (mine is 195KB), and I'm concerned. It is an ASCII
type file containing all the addresses resident on my
computer! No CC's, no addressees, just the ones in
resident Contact folders. It lists the names I personally
assigned to contacts, and updates when a new address
is "seen". Norton AV and Spybot run clear, no issues.

Another board mentioned this as a known glitch from MS.
Anyone have any ideas/fixes? Thanks in advance.
