Tiled background, is there a solution?

I see this question has been posed a number of times but don't see a
solution. I'd like to send out email stationery but obviously can't
have it tile. Is there a way to set up the file so this doesn't
happen? thanks

Does anyone know what I should do here? I've been waiting two days to
send out this email and don't know how to disable the background
tiling. I see that no one ever answers when this question is posted
so I guess I'm hosed. Is there no solution at all for sending out
professional stationery? thx

I¹m not sure what you are describing. Are you using one of the fancy
backgrounds offered by Microsoft?

According to the directions:

Add a background to a message
Start Entourage.
Click New , and then click in the message body.
Click Insert , and then click Background Picture.
If a dialog box appears, it means that the message is in plain text format.
You cannot add a background to a message in plain text format. Click Turn on
HTML.
Locate the background you want to add, and then click Choose.
The background now appears in your e-mail message.

It seems that you can select whether to use this or not on a per message
basis.

To send plain email, just use plain text. That¹s the standard for email.
Most people don¹t appreciate complex HTML messages and that¹s another topic
all together. Probably one of the most debated issues for email: Plain text
vs HTML.

Well, I was trying to include a background picture that matches my
website, with text over it, for a professional look. But I guess I'll
just send regular email.

When I put the background in, it tiled.

OK, I think I get what you are trying to do. Your CSS is wrong. You need to
set the repeat for the image.

FWIW, I think you will find that your recipients won¹t appreciate the extra
space this is going to take.

Content is more important. If you must use HTML make it as simple as
possible. Go overboard and it starts to be spam. IMHO
