Time Calculations

Paul D

I am trying to determine total time someone spends on our
phone system, we have talk time and hold time I need to
consider.

I total up my Talk Time and the result is 1:13:00, and the
cell format is time

I total up my Hold Time and the result is 684.00, and the
cell format is numeric number in secounds

How can I calculate total time in secounds, from there I
can determine the hours

Hi Paul!

Take your hold time and divide by (24*60*60) and format as [hh]:mm:ss

You can then add the talk time and hold time and format that addition
[hh]:mm:ss

The [hh] serves to prevent a total from rolling over at 24 hours.

One way:

A1: 1:13:00
A2: 684

For Time format:
A3: =A1 + TIME(0, 0, A2) ==> 1:24:00

You can display seconds:

Format/Cells/Number/Custom ==> 5064

to convert to hours (XL stores times as fractional days, so multiply by
24 hrs/day):

A3: =(A1 + TIME(0, 0, A2)) * 24 ==> 1.406666667

when formatted as General.

To convert to seconds:

A3: =(A1 + TIME(0, 0, A2)) * 86400 ===> 5064
