Time stored in Database

Maybe im in a stupid mode today but I see 70 hours in the sheet for Work. In
the database ( Access ) MSP_TASKS.TASK_WORK shows 4200000. The only
calculation that this relates to is 72 Hours = 4200 Minutes X 1000. This
calculcation works out for all fields. So my question is why is Project
doing this. Im sure there is some fuzzy logic but cant think of anything off
hand.

Hi Trev,

No, you're not in stupid mode. From the PJDB.HTM file:

"Because duration, work, rate, and cost values can be displayed using
different units, Project saves each using a standard multiple:
* Duration values are saved as minutes * 10. Eight hours would be saved as
4800 (that is, 8*60*10).
* Work values are saved as minutes * 1000. Eight hours would be saved as
480000 (that is, 8*60*1000)."

Where the extra 2 hours comes from - I don't know.

Hope this helps.
Julie
