Time zone problem ?

R

Rolf Kievits

Hi,
Since december 1st I have this funny error in all my calender events: Œevent
and computer and time zones do not match. In Calender views, the event time
has been adjusted to display correctly¹.

Well:
1. I didn¹t change anything
2. Event and computer time are NOT different
3. I did a rebuild and a database verification

Obviously, nothing helps. What is going on here ???

Thanks

Rolf

Same thing here. Time and zones set correctly in E2004 and on
powerbook.
No way to fix it. Odd

Just noticed it over here too. Must have happened very recently.
Events display correctly anyway.
v.11.2.1 and OS 10.4.3

Is this time zone problem only showing up on non-English versions of
Entourage?

No, I am using the English version. Time zone is EET (Athens), set the
same on the computer and Entourage. The only difference I can see is
that the computer displays EET and then "Athens", whereas Entourage
preferences displays "Athens, Instabul, Minsk". I have made no changes
in these settings for a long time and the timezone warning appeared
only recently - could be after the SP2 upgrade, but I am not sure.

We've noticed this too.

The Timezones files keeps track of what Entourage uses as the timezone
changeover dates/times for the various timezones, and we currently perform a
lightweight comparison (not very thorough) with the dates/times in there vs.
the dates/times reported by the system (all vs. GMT) for a number of points
throughout the year to determine whether we're in the correct time zone or
not.

The Timezones file has some known inaccuracies, which is causing the
problem. You are welcome to edit the file; it's in iCalendar (RFC 2445
format). It, however, may get replaced during upgrades, so keep backups. If
you find specific errors with a given timezone like, it switches hours on
the wrong day or at the wrong time, or that several of the matching
locations actually use different time changes, please let us know...
preferably with a link to documentation on what the time zone really should
be. We're not especially looking for historical accuracy (like making sure
that if you went back to 1970 that the time zones would still be accurate),
but at least for current correctness.

On the other hand, we are improving how we track what time zone the system
is for an upcoming release, so at least that problem will be resolved.
