Timeline template for personal life history or geneology

I think a template for creating personal or family timelines would be useful
for geneology. This would include a way to insert photographs or document
scans.

Thanks for your reply Bob. I do have Family Tree Maker, but what I have
envisioned is a book to leave my family. This would be on printed on paper in
book form with associated stories and photos in chrological order. I can't
see any way to do this easily with FTM. The charts you can print out with FTM
are sort of technical and without much personality. Maybe I'm a little
old-fashioned, but I like the book approach much better than leaving my
family a CD containing a FTM file (although I will probably include a CD with
the book).

I can understand your wanting something that seemed a bit more personal, but
I don't that you will be able to find it with a free template. Why not find
something similar to what you have in mind and then use your creativity to
make it yours?

Oh - make sure you mention that you were the creative talent behind the
diagrams. Your decendants will want to know that. :)

In addition to what JoAnn said, I personally would not want to set up
something that required a "proprietary" software install to view.(FTM or
Office) I would look around and perhaps convert and copy it to DVD
movie so one could view it easily. As for paper you can do what you wish
with the layout as you see fit, as any "template" someone created would
only be their view of what looked good.
