Tmp files in Office Bar folder

B

Bill Watt

Office 97, Win98 SE

Tmp files in the
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Shortcut Bar folder keep
accumulating. It gets over 100, then I delete them and they start
building up again. I've searched the group back about 8 days but see
nothing on this. Also searched Google but found nothing about these
particular Tmp files.

Any way to avoid this?

Would appreciate any info.

Hi Bill,

The Office Shortcut Bar used .tmp files for the Toolbar items on the bar.

Thanks for the reply and the link Bob. This is different, I haven't
changed anything on the Shortcut bar for ages. But every day there
are 6-10 new *.tmp files. I can tell when they were created by the
date. There were 156 one time. Deleting them has no effect on the
Bar, I don't delete the ones with the current date. Here is a list
of some files from today so far. It seems every time I start a
program from the Bar it creates a *.tmp file.
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Shortcut Bar\ProD2D2s.tmp
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Shortcut Bar\ProD2D2h.tmp
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Shortcut Bar\ProD2D2.TMP
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Shortcut Bar\Officeh.tmp
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Shortcut Bar\Offices.tmp
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Shortcut Bar\Programsh.tmp

I looked into this because programs starting from the Bar had a 3-5
second delay in starting, but the same programs starting from a
desktop shortcut have no delay. I've looked at the files with a text
editor but no help there. I use two toolbars, Office and Programs.
Maybe if I removed Programs it would help, I never use that mode
anyway. I'll try it.

Thanks,

Regards,
