To and Fro Compatibility between Powerpoint 2003 and 2000

A presentation was created with Powerpoint 2003 Italian version (with minor
animations and some images). Subsequently, it was edited and saved using
Powerpoint 2000 (two different versions tried: Italian 2000 and Italian 2000
SP-3): this apparently has caused it to become inaccessible to Powerpoint
2003 (two different pcs tried; warning issued: 'impossibile
leggere/impossible to read file'), but not to Powerpoint 2000!!! The only way
to overcome all this seems to have been: re-open the file (original dimension
approx. 800 KB) with Powerpoint 2000; save it in Powerpoint 95 format
(dimension grown to 36MB); re-open it with Powerpoint 2003; save it in
Powerpoint 2003 format (dimension shrunken to 13MB). Any other hints? We're
willing to attach the original file if it may be of help.
Thanks for your attention.
Regards to all

I would make sure that all service packs are installed on the 2003 version.
There were similar issues that were resolved with these upgrades.
