To Upgrade or wait....

I am one of the many people affected by the hotmail and entourage x
issue that has recently surfaced. I am not sure what I want to do
about this, get a different e-mail account or update to Office 2004.
Office 2004 is already 3 years old, when will it be replaced by a
newer and hopefully better version?
The entourage X has not been my favorite software package. I don't
like that I cant change the font size in the calendar printouts. Is
Office 2004 a better product?

Personally, I would wait until Microsoft released Office 2008 or MS offers a
free or reduced price to update from 2004 to 2008.

In the mean time some options are:

* Use Apple mail to download your Hotmail
<http://email.about.com/cs/macosxmailtips/qt/et042503.htm>

* Use your web browser.

* Is it possible to forward your Hotmail to your regular ISP email account?
This way you can maintain your Hotmail email until you can upgrade.

BTW, why are you so attached to your Hotmail account?

I am wondering if this is the same problem that I suddenly started
having last week. I cannot send email using my msn account from
Entourage v X on the Mac. There is no place that I can find to change
any smtp settings. I called tech support at the local university and
they said that older versions of Mac Outlook also had this issue and
that I should look for a patch online. I found a patch to upgrade to
10.1.9 but this has not solved the problem.

This is my only good email address and now the only way I can send
email is through a web browser.

Is this your issue as well Tom C, and if so, did you decided to
upgrade to Office 2004? I dowloaded the test version and tonight will
see if it fixes the problem. I am not sure if I could wait until
Office 08.

I wouldn't buy Office 2004 at this point as its getting pretty long in
the tooth. If you can't wait for Office 2008 I would use Apple's Mail
program or just use web based mail. I think you'd be wasting a lot of
money for a product that his seen its day. Its already very late in
arriving.
