TOC: Text marked for inclusion, but it picks up whole paragraph.

Example:
(3) Initialization Paragraph. This paragraph is used for tasks done etc,
etc, etc.

I marked "(3) Initialization Paragraph" to appear the the TOC -- but when
I created the TOC, it pulled in the whole paragraph.

Why??

Juanita,
Two questions: Is your TOC based on Heading styles or Index Entries (or
both)? And, what style is your example paragraph set to?

Kamran.

Kamran:
Our organization requires the following (although I did not assign it via
the "bullets and numbering" procedure):

1. UPPER CASE, BOLD:
a. Upper and Lower Case
(1) Upper and Lower Case
(1) Upper and Lower Case
Normal style.

Thanks,
Juanita
