Toggle spell check in code?

My code opens and parses a large file (467 pages) filled with acronyms and
abbreviations. Word sees all of these as spelling errors. When I am
stepping through my code to adjust or debug, I will often get the error
message that Word found too many spelling mistakes to display. Lately, I've
also gotten some strange crashes while the program runs (several minutes),
and thought that turning off the spell check at the beginning and back on at
the end might help. Or just off, if this is only document-wide and not
application-wide.

Hi Ed,

Are you looking for something as simple as

ActiveDocument.SpellingChecked = True

Hi Ed,

i've been fighting this phenomenon, too,
in a rather unsystematic way.
It's gone, but I don't know why.

Maybe
Options.CheckSpellingAsYouType = False
helped.

Helmut: I think Dave's got it with
ActiveDocument.SpellingChecked = True
That would make sense in the same way Saved = True prevents the "Do you want
to save changes?" message.
