Tool to Test Accessibility for PowerPoint

Hi folks,

Just wanted to let you know about a clever little free
program which will "read" your PowerPoint presentation.
It's called PowerTalk for Powerpoint and is available at:
http://www.meru.org.uk/speechmakers/

It's really great for testing how your PowerPoint
presentation will sound to someone who is using a screen
reader and is also a boon for folks with
learning/cognitive difficulties.

Those UK folks rock!

P.S. Had a great time at PPT Live, sorry I had to leave
so soon. It was a terrific learning experience!

Wow! I'm working on some new tutorials and wanted to make them as
accessible as possible, but didn't know where to begin with testing. With
AT&T's Crystal voice reading my text back to me, I even found a typo that my
eyes just wouldn't catch. I wonder how I could get Crystal to read me the
screen tips too.

This is so cool. Thanks, Glenna, for letting us know.

Maybe "we" could ask Steve Lee (who programmed PowerTalk)
if he can pick up screen tips and links? I've found that
the PowerTalk actually reads PowerPoint better than the
leading screen reading software so I'm going to try and
hook him up with them anyway. I think he could teach them
a thing or two.

I'll keep the group updated as I find out more.
