total failure & and initialization in 2004

I have experienced a total meltdown of entourage 2004 and I am looking
for help/similar occurrances.

Sequene of events:
-I have been using entourage 2004 for a little over a month
-Loaded a Macnally trackball driver
-rebooted my computer
-opened entourage 2004
-Everything was gone (emails, accounts, addresses)
-I was prompted with the start-up screen for entourage 2004 and the
welcome email from MS

Has anyone seen this happen before? Any clue where all the
information could have gone and how to reload it? I have used
Entourage for several years but I have never had anything like this
occur.

System config: MAC/dual G4/500MHz/700+MB ram

It is likely that something has moved your data folder. Do a search for
'Office 2004 Identities' and make sure that it is in the right place.

Under OS X/Office 2004 it should be:

~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2004 Identities/
(where '~/' is your current login's 'Home' directory

Make sure you put your main identity folder in there, then if you still
can't see it when you restart Entourage, try to change identities (it's
under the File menu) and see if your identity shows up in the list.

Barry, Thanks for the advice. I followed your suggestions,
unfortunately it did not resolve the problem. My 2004 Identities
exist in the correct place but it is only the main identiy created
when Entourage reinitialized itself. I also searched for the identity
names but they were no where to be found on my computer. I did find
out however, that it wasn't just Entourage 2004 that lost all the
identities information my Office X version did as well. the only
version that remained intact with its identites is office 2001.

Any other suggestions would be welcome.

Unfortunately, I believe that you are at the point where you need to
restore to a backup. If the only identities folder you have is the Main
Identity, and that is empty, the only place you can get your data back from
is a backup.
