Track Changes menu will not accept new selections

In Options/Track Changes/Insertions/ will not accept new selections. always defaults to Underlined. When I select None and close the window, the insertion revrts back to Underlined. It used to work ok, but today it does not. I suspect some other option got changed that caused this, but I can't find it

I need to print the document showing change bars in the margin, but no Underline in the text

Any help will be appreciated
