Train Entourage Autocorrect to use smile emoticon??

B

Brian Johns

OK, on Windows PCs and in even in Mac MS Word, if you type ":)" the
Autocorrect feature changes to the Wingdings "J" character which is a
smiling face.

Is there a way to teach Entourage's Autocorrect to correct ":)" with the
smile character or a similar emoticon? (This is obviously intended only on
HTML emails.) I can Autocorrect to "J" but there's no way to assign the
Wingdings font (that I can see). In Word v.X the Autocorrect has the
"Formatted Text" feature which appears to be missing in Entourage.

Is there a control code or something that can be entered to enable this to
happen??

Thanks! :)

You can't use the exact combo :) since Entourage sees a : as a word
separator, so it thinks of the two characters as two separate words, not one
entity. You can do it with a different trigger, though. I used "sml", which
I assigned to the Unicode "white smiling face" glyph, 263A: ☺
