Transfer Microsoft User Data to a New Computer

I have a new computer that has Panther on it. I want to transfer my emails,
address books, contacts, calendar, etc from my old computer to the new
computer. I have Microsoft Office X on this new computer, including the most
recent Entourage update. But I am unable to transfer all of my old emails,
contacts, etc. from the old to the new.

Does anyone have a protocol on how to do this?

I tried to replace the old Microsoft User Data folder from the old computer
to the new computer but this did not work.

Thanks,
Lou

If they are Entourage X data files then you can just copy over. If they are
Office 2001, then you will need to import.

Rules, mailing lists, signatures, messages, data, schedules, contacts,
tasks, notes, calendar are located in:

Entourage X : ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office X Identities/your
identity

Entourage 2001: <Startup Disk>:Documents/Microsoft User Data: Office 2001
Identities:your identity

Note: your identity is called Main Identity unless you rename it.

This simple copy/transfer did not work. After reinstalling Office and
copying/transfering/replacing the original Identities Folders (My Main
Identity and my wife's Identity) for the newly created Folders - - the only
thing that I was able to see was a new welcome message that is displayed in
Entourage. I'm wondering if the Panther upgrade is fouling this transfer?

I have 'Entourage Email Archive X' that will allow me to transfer email
messages so that I will be able to retain all of our old messages but I
would think that I should be able to simply copy over as you suggested. In
addition, it is very important that I retain all of our old email contacts
and addresses and Entourage Email Archive X does not do this.

Thanks,
Lou

Use Switch Identity and select your old identity. The default just needs to
be set.

Rules, mailing lists, signatures, messages, data, schedules, contacts,

I'm also trying to move all my Entourage data from one Mac to another
(both with Panther installed). But I've searched the source Mac for
the location mentioned above and find nothing. I searched "Entourage
X, "Microsoft User Data," and "identities" and still found nothing, as
well as just hunting in the Microsoft Office folder/subfolders. What
am I doing wrong?

I do find some Entourage stuff in User>Library>Mail>Mailboxes, but
transfering it didn't accomplish anything, and it probably doesn't
have the data.

In case you're using a French version of Entourage, you should rather search
for "Données Utilisateurs Microsoft", "Utilisateurs Office X" or "Identité
principale". The database itself (but you'll have to move the entire folder)
can be located searching for "Database" (US version) or "Base de données"
(French version).

I think this has more to do with Apple's "Mail.app"

Bingo! Thanks.

The path was different than shown in the prior posting. My Entourage data
was at:

Users > My Identity > Documents > Microsoft User Data > Office X Identities
Main Identity > Database.

I appreciate the help.

!! Move the whole Main Identity folder, not just the Database file. Even
though Entourage X has dispensed with the separate Messages file, it still
needs the other files in that folder (Database Cache, Schedules, etc.) to be
together.
