Transferring registration

Hello.

Now that I have gotten a new computer with Office XP-Pro, I
have reformatted my old computer for use with Linux.
Therefore, I am no longer using my old Office 97-Pro. Is
there some way I may legitimately (legally, etc.) give my
old Office 97-Pro to a friend of mine and transfer the
registration to him so that he becomes the official owner
of that package? If so, how?
