translate symbol

Whenever I open a new email I keep getting a symbol, like a back to front "P"
that I believe relates to translation. I just can't work out how to stop it
coming up. Can anyone understand what I mean, and more importantly can anyone
help.
I use Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 with Outlook.

You have your formatting marks turned on. Go into tools>options and under
the view tab, make sure the boxes under Formatting Marks aren't checked.
