Trashed address book

I've managed, in the process of syncing my treo to entourage. to
eliminate all the contacts in my entourage (and treo) address book

I've tried rebuilding the entourage db to no avail. I noticed that
there are a couple of files dated pre the crash that might help me
restore the address book these were entitiled AddressBook.data and
AddressBook.Data.Previous. - can these help ?

Any suggestions - I'd dearly like to get my address book back

Sorry, but they will not help.

These are not Entourage files.
Any suggestions - I'd dearly like to get my address book back.

Do you have any backups? For suggestions on backing up your data so this
won't happen again:

I do have a back up - but is of the whole volume. I need to know what
the name of the contacts file I need to restore is.

You will need to export the contacts from your backup. Rename your backup
identity and put it in your Microsoft User Data folder: Identity folder.
Switch Identities in Entourage and under File in the Menu bar select to
export. Save this file on your desktop or Documents folder. Switch back to
your regular identity and import the file.
