Tried to use Sync Services...ack. Lost all contacts!

I managed to import all my data from Entourage (which I sync with my
Palm all the time, all goes well with that) into iCal and Address Book.
That worked OK. Then I tried to set up Sync Services to KEEP
Entourage synced with iCal and Address Book. Calendars are OK - a few
doubled items, but that's no biggie. But I've lost ALL my addresses in
my address book! In both places!

I had already emptied the trash since I exported the Entourage contact
list into a text file (which I then imported into Address Book) - is
there any way to recover that? (Not secure emptied - just emptied.)

Failing that, all the addresses are still in my Palm but now I'm scared
to sync it to restore the information to Entourage in case the blank
address book overwrites the Palm (full) address book - that's the ONLY
place I have that information now!

If I can't find the .txt file with the Entourage contacts despite the
trash's having been emptied, can someone walk me through the sync with
the Palm to be SURE I don't lose the contact information that's stored
there and only there???

I figured out how to export the contacts from an old identity that I'd
backed up a few days ago and all is now well! Thanks anyway!
